A brooding and chewy Ribera del Duero with coffee, baked black cherries and blackberries on the nose. Full-bodied, powerful and extracted, with chewy tannins and a tight, flavorful finish.

The 2022 Protos 27 is 100% Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero. It was aged 16 months in French oak barrels (new and one-year) and a further 12 months in bottle. Garnet in color, the wine opens with ripe fruit, plum, cedar and balsamic notes, including a hint of menthol. Expressive. In this warm vintage, the tannins are active, showing menthol, red fruit and more structure. The finish brings juiciness and fruit clarity. A Ribera in a New World style with open expression.

A violet-tinged florality mingles with polished, barrel-scented aromatics. The palate of this wine is almost hedonistic in flavor and texture, with plush, jammy fruit that will seduce those with a penchant for richness. Yet for all its charm, the tannins do remain assertive, so a few more years in bottle might provide the optimal drinking experience.
