A solid, well-made Margaux, the 2023 Chateau Paveil De Luze offers ripe red and black fruits, melted crayon, violets, and spicy, smoky oak on the nose. Based on 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot from sandy and gravelly soils and aged 12 months in 30% new French oak, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, nicely balanced mouthfeel and a good finish. It needs 2-3 years to integrate its oak and will evolve nicely over the following decade.
A savory Margaux with 90% cabernet sauvignon and 10% merlot. Aromas of allspice, plums and berries with touches of citrus and stones. Open, juicy and medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a sleek, medium-long finish. Well polished. Drinkable now, but can hold.
The 2023 Paveil de Luze is super attractive right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, spice, cedar and mint lend tons of aromatic nuance. This gracious, mid-weight Cru Bourgeois is all finesse. There's plenty of Margaux class here.
The 2023 Paveil de Luze is a lovely bottle in the making, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries and cherries mingled with cigar wrapper, rose petals and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, layered and classy, this blend dominated by 95% Cabernet Sauvignon is likely to number among the sleepers of the en primeur campaign. It would embarrass plenty of classified growths in a blind tasting.
With its big tannins and juicy acidity in harmony, this Margaux estate has produced a fine wine. It is certainly structured but it is also elegant.
