Estate

Bessa Valley Winery represents a masterful union of French winemaking tradition and the ancient terroir of the Thracian Valley—an exceptional wine region shaped by millennial traditions in viticulture dating back to the time of the god Dionysus. Spanning 250 hectares of pristine landscape, our estate is distinguished by a unique architectural cellar carved directly into the hillside rock. This natural sanctuary, formed by limestone walls bearing traces of prehistoric sea fossils, provides naturally stable temperature and humidity conditions, creating an ideal environment for the slow and precise maturation of our wines. Today, Bessa Valley Winery stands as a global ambassador for Bulgarian wine. With 80% of our production exported to discerning connoisseurs across Europe, North America, and Asia, our wines carry the spirit and heritage of the Thracian Valley to the world.

Terroir

The Bessa Valley vineyards, located on clay-limestone soils, create conditions for slow and even ripening, which brings depth and purity of flavor.

Vinification

The grapes are hand-picked, with strict quality control right in the vineyard. After careful separation of the bunches and selection of the berries, the grapes are transferred by gravity into concrete tanks.

Ageing

Aged in French oak barrels – 15% for 12 months, 35% for 24 months and 50% for 36 months. After blending, the wine is lightly filtered and bottled.

Tasting Notes

The color is attractive, dark garnet. The aroma is rich, clear and pure. The taste is full and rounded, with a silky texture. The balance between ripe fruit and oak tannins is natural and unobtrusive. The finish is soft, smooth and long, leaving a feeling of completeness and elegance.

Food Pairing

Excellent with roasted and slow-cooked meats, venison, wild boar, and aged or semi-hard cheeses.
